Black and Tan Homespun
Black and Tan Homespun Dress (sz. 12)
This basic bodice dress with Bishop sleeves is a dress I call: The Danforth Dress. It is a replica of a dress worn by an ancestor of my good friend Ft. Moses Berry. Father Berry is descended from slaves, and has a copy of the CDV of his ancestor displayed alongside this dress in the fine African American Museum of the Ozarks of which he is owner, curator.
The fabric is 1/4 inch woven check cotton homespun. The full Bishop sleeve is stitched down at the top of the sleeve with small pleats manipulating the dark checks to make a striking appearance.
The bodice is fully lined, and the skirt is evenly hand gauged.
