Burgundy Faille
This gown could also be worn for a tea as well - depending on the headdress, accessories or jewelry worn. It is made with my Bodice Bodice Sloaper, having jewel a neckline and pagoda sleeves. There are no buttonholes as the center front. It fastens with concealed hooks and eyes. Tiny piping is at the neckline, armholes and bodice bottom. The sleeves and bodice are lined and the bodice is fully boned.
The pagoda sleeves have a deep and very beautiful cuff, which is trimmed with fluted satin ribbon of the same burgundy gown color, with the different texture creating an interesting color contrast. The same trim is on the skirt's side front. Black buttons and narrow hand-applied black velvet ribbon sets off the satin fluting.
The skirt is directionally pleated and fashioned from three 60 inch panels of fabric, with a very full elliptical back. The center front measures 46 inches and the center back measures 48 inches. The hem is faced with a 3 inch polished cotton facing.
