Gauze Ballgown
SIZE 12
The PRINCESS ROYAL BODY
Petersons 1861: "The very elegant Body of which we give a front and back view, will be universally adopted for muslin for balls, &C. It has a square baby's body, made full back and front. In Paris it is worn without a chemiset."
(this gown will look lovely with the compliment of full, soft undersleeves).
The body is softly gathered, and stitched to the boned muslin lining. It closes at the center back with hooks and eyes. The neckline is beautifully hand finished with bias self-fabric.
The sleeves are a full pagoda which are hand gathered and set into a piped armscye. There is hand rusched ribbon on the sleeves.
While the very full skirt measures 360 inches, this gown it is almost weightless. It is hand guaged and set onto the bodice. The turned hem is a deep 8 inches. The skirt is ellipitical and calls for a very full crinoline.
The yellow taffeta belt is stiffened to maintain a neat appearance. There is a pretty bow and 32 inch streamers.
This design was created using my Basic Bodice Sloaper.
