Sprigged Navy Cotton
Navy Cotton Sprigged Print Work Dress (sz. 12)
The fitted, front opening bodice has 11 four hole gray buttons. It and the two piece coat sleeves are linedf with off white cotton muslin. There is piping at the shoulder and in the armholes. Boning in the front darts and side seams only.
The skirt has a 182 inch circumference with a two inch hand stitched, turned hem. It is directionlly pleated all around and hand whipped to a self-fabric band. It is slightly elliptica, measuring 45 inches at the center front and 47 inches at the center back. The bodice is hand sewn to the skirt.
This dress gives the ideal impression for a work dress for the era. It is a sturdy printed cotton-navy ground with a tiny gray and cream printed pattern. Worn with pristine white collar and cuffs or undersleeves and ideally an apron, it provides a very neat and tidy appearance.
