Named for the uniform jacket of the French-Algerian regiments, the style was adopted for women and children's wear and was wildly popular.

 

These little jackets should be made of appropriate types and weights of fabrics.

This is made of black cotton velveteen and is trimmed handsomely with hand - applied braid around the neckline and all around the jacket. The sleeves are a modified pagoda and  trimmed with the same braid. It is fully lined.
